Celebrating Skills, Success & Opportunity
At National Upskill, we love celebrating learners who embrace growth, learning, and leadership. One inspiring example is Andrew Hardman, Purchasing Leader and Sales professional at Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd, whose apprenticeship journey with us has been transformative.
Andrew Hardman's journey is a perfect example of how skills development, dedication, and the right support can transform a career. From being the “new person” in the apprenticeship program to stepping into a leadership role, his story shows the lasting value of investing in yourself.
At National Upskill, we are proud to support learners like Andrew, where opportunity meets effort, and success becomes a shared achievement.
Andrew shares his journey in his own words
I started my apprenticeship journey with National Upskill, being the first within the company moving over from our usual training provider and wondered if I would receive not only the help and training other employees have experienced, but also the support being the ‘'New Person'. I was assured of this from day 1 from Mish McFarland who took the time to get to know me and how I work and knew how to get the best out of me and believe we have gone on a successful story and learned more about myself in believing in me and that I can achieve anything if I put the time and effort into any project undertaken. Her patience and guidance have helped shape my progress at work now and in the future, and I'm thankful I was that ‘'New Person' who got the chance to better myself at work and out of work too.
"Whilst I did my work in a small office away from the office, I had a sign that said 'Work Hard In Silence And Let Success Make The Noise'. This helped me and motivated me each time I took the time to dedicate myself to my apprenticeship coursework. Since qualifying from my apprenticeship, I have received a promotion to be a team leader and can see that those around me now take notice of what I have to say and look to me to lead them when uncertainty is around us. I feel that I can pick up the baton and help and influence a group of people to succeed and better themselves, to,o and understand how they can work problems out for themselves in the future"
