Foundation Apprenticeships provide an entry-level route into employment or further training for young people aged 16–21 (up to 24 with an EHCP or care experience). A key focus is software and data, which underpin modern technology—powering systems, enabling innovation, and driving decision making. Together, they transform industries, support AI and automation, and enhance cybersecurity and connectivity. For tech employers, this apprenticeship offers a pipeline of early talent, tailored training, and long-term workforce development—helping build future-ready teams while maximising levy investment.
There are no prior skills or knowledge entry requirements required but you must be employed in a suitable job role involving data, technology, hardware and software. And your employer must be in support of your enrolment.

Knowledge
- Understand digital systems, networks, and infrastructure

- Those with a keen interest in entering the digital sector and/or roles which have a digital footprint
- 16-21's with aspirations to work in the data and software field which is vast from web designers, to coders, content creators, digital accessibility, AI and automation, engineers and so on.
- Those looking to find their footing in the digital arena prior to moving onto a specialism at level 3..
