The Cyber Security Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship is designed for individuals who are interested in protecting organisations from cyber threats and developing the technical skills required to support secure digital environments. It is ideal for those looking to begin a career in cyber security, IT support, network security or information security.

If you pay into the apprenticeship levy this is 100% funded at £11,000.

Develop an understanding of information security principles, cyber threats, vulnerabilities and risks. Learn how organisations protect digital assets through secure systems, networks, hardware, software and cloud technologies.
Security Governance and Compliance
Understand cyber security governance, policies, standards and Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). Gain knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and ethical responsibilities, including the Data Protection Act, Computer Misuse Act, GDPR and industry-specific compliance requirements.
Security Controls and Technologies
Learn about physical, procedural and technical security controls used to protect organisational systems and information. Develop an understanding of access controls, firewalls, anti-malware solutions, encryption, certificate management and security monitoring tools.
Security Operations and Incident Management
Understand how security incidents and events are identified, monitored, reported and escalated. Learn the principles of incident response, threat detection, vulnerability management and business continuity to support secure business operations.
Risk, Threat and Vulnerability Management
Develop knowledge of cyber security risks, threat intelligence and vulnerability assessment processes. Understand how organisations assess, manage and mitigate security threats to protect systems, users and data.

Apply cyber security procedures and controls to maintain secure systems and support uninterrupted business operations. Process security-related requests and ensure compliance with organisational requirements.
Monitoring and Threat Detection
Monitor systems and networks to identify potential cyber security threats, incidents and vulnerabilities. Investigate findings and escalate issues appropriately in accordance with organisational procedures.
Incident Response and Reporting
Assist with the identification, documentation and reporting of cyber security incidents and events. Support incident investigations and contribute to improving organisational security practices.
Security Control Implementation
Install, configure and maintain security technologies and controls, including access management, software updates, anti-malware tools, encryption technologies and monitoring solutions.
